Working Principle

  1. Transmission: Electrical signals from the network are processed by the driver chip and used to modulate the laser diode or LED, producing optical signals.
  2. Propagation: The optical signals travel through fiber optic cables to the receiving end.
  3. Reception: The photodetector converts the optical signals back into electrical signals, which are amplified and sent to the network equipment .

  • Average Optical Power: The intensity of light emitted by the transmitter.
  • Extinction Ratio: Measures the ability to distinguish between logical "1" and "0" in the transmitted signal.

  • Overload Optical Power: Maximum optical power the receiver can handle without signal distortion .
